Through a vision the Lord told Rich Joyner that he has created our minds to understand and know him. This is such an amazing gift that the Lord has given us, that we may be able to know God in a personal and intimate way. However the Lord said that He can only reveal himself to us when we believe.
“Only when you believe can you understand.” - The Torch and the Sword
What this means is that we have to go to him daily and ask in to give us understanding of him and then believe that he will do it. I believe that this also means that when we believe in the Lord and trust and obey him he will begin to bring us into deeper understanding of himself even if we didn’t ask because we trusted in him. We are sinful men though and we need to learn to give up our minds to him so that he can flush the “junk” so to speak out of our minds first. For it says in Romans 8:6: “The minds of sinful man is death”
Therefore, we are all sinful men and woman and we need God to renew our minds. Romans 12: 2 says: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
