When We Are Weak He Is Strong

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Looking out onto the mountains where the enemies are marching forth, Rick Joyner in this book The Torch and the Sword sees that not only do the enemies have many warriors, but also there are only two, including himself, to fight them off.  Are you scared?  He asks the girl how they are going to do it, but the answer is very simple.  God is on our side as long as we’re on his.  And will he forsake us?  Never!  And is he strong?  Of course he is.  Because when we trust in him and obey him, God does wonders.

How about those times when we try to do it all by our selves?  We try to be strong and win by ourselves.  But is that really how we’re going to win?  Is Rick Joyner going to win two against thousands with no help from God?  God doesn’t use our strength to win, only through our weaknesses may we be strong.  As long as we are obedient to God we will be strong. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

As we look at this verse we see the word weakness and to know what it means by weakness we look at the last bit, “in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.”  So, we see that our weakness doesn’t mean being lazy or not wanting to fight our hardest, it means that we are pushing through our hardest, pressing through when people ridicule us, getting pushed around.  Feeling like you can’t do anything or is different than not wanting to do it.  At a grocery store you see a man who has a cast.  God tells you to pray for him.  You think, “oh that won’t do anything, I’m only a kid,” or “I don’t know much about healing other people.”  That’s when God does the most because when we are weak, he is strong and he will use us through out weaknesses.  Moses was told to go to Egypt and tell Pharaoh to let his people go.  Moses felt weak and excused himself for not being able to speak very well.  But God used him in a miraculous way as Moses spoke with great eloquence.  In this way God made Moses strong.

Rick Joyner is standing there looking at the number of enemies, but will that stop him?  Rick Joyner may be weak, but in his obedience to step forth and fight he is strong.

Scriptures to Pray:  1 Corinthians 1:27

Today’s Prayer:

Father God, use my weaknesses for Your Glory. I want to be a living sacrifice to You. Help me lean on you in my weak times rather then pressing on in my own strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.
