"If you want to accurately hear when God is leading you, then you have to get to know His ways better than you know the world’s ways. You have to spend some serious time in prayer and reading His Word.
That’s the way Jesus lived. The Bible says He got up early in the morning to pray. He rose before the sun did. Sometimes He spent all night talking to God.
Spending time with God was the number one priority in Jesus’ life. That’s how He knew what God wanted Him to do. That’s how He perfectly pleased Him. Jesus’ disciples knew that His power was connected to the time He spent praying. They saw it was part of His daily lifestyle. That’s why they asked Him, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1).
The things God told Jesus to do in those times weren’t always easy. As you remember, in the Garden of Gethsemane, He sweat blood and said, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” (Matthew 26:39)
