Take The High Way

"For my thougths are not your thoughts, either are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. "
Isaiah 55:8-9

"If you want to accurately hear when God is leading you, then you have to get to know His ways better than you know the world’s ways. You have to spend some serious time in prayer and reading His Word.

That’s the way Jesus lived. The Bible says He got up early in the morning to pray. He rose before the sun did. Sometimes He spent all night talking to God.

Spending time with God was the number one priority in Jesus’ life. That’s how He knew what God wanted Him to do. That’s how He perfectly pleased Him. Jesus’ disciples knew that His power was connected to the time He spent praying. They saw it was part of His daily lifestyle. That’s why they asked Him, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1).

The things God told Jesus to do in those times weren’t always easy. As you remember, in the Garden of Gethsemane, He sweat blood and said, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” (Matthew 26:39)

You may be in a hard place like that right now. God may be telling you to do something that’s hard to do. He may have been telling you for months to get up early every morning so you can spend more time in prayer or reading the Bible. Maybe for months you’ve been thinking, Yes, I really should do that...but that snooze button is just too easy to hit.

Perhaps God has been speaking to you about other adjustments you need to make in your life. He may be saying, Here’s someone I want you to help, or Here’s something you need to get out of your life.

If He’s saying something like that to you, take His instructions seriously. What may seem no big deal right now may help you more than you know in the future. God’s direction is always in your best interest. His ways are higher!"

Talk the Truth - "I will take Jesus's instructions seriously because His ways are higher than my own. He knows what's best for me." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Study the Truth - Luke 11:1-13
